Foxes have always played a role in folklore around the world. In Scandinavian countries, it was said that foxes had lights in their tails, and thus began the idea that foxes created the Northern Lights. A wizened old Danish man often recounted the tale of a magic fox living in the forests of Denmark. Watchful and protective, the fox would roam the woods. Children picking berries or gathering firewood for their homes sometimes encountered the magic fox. When seen, the fox granted wishes to the children. Then they could climb on its back and the fox took them on fantastic adventures through the forests granting them their wishes of toys and treats. The fox represents protection, wisdom and a bit of magic to those seeking it.
